" NOW I LAY ME DOWN TO SLEEP
I PRAY THEE LORD MY SOUL TO KEEP"
depicting an image of "a little girl in bed holding her doll baby, surrounded by 4 guardian angels, protected 2 armed soldiers, with a rocking horse, a sheep, a lamb and a variety of flowers featuring a red scalloped outline border".
The needlework tells a story of the time... This is such a beautiful work of art. I was told this is from the early 1900s and all of the images are telling a story of the little girls life, whom this was made for. I've always tried to imagine the meaning of each figure.
Pre-owned, SHOWS SIGNS of WEAR, the SATIN and LACE is TATTERED. THE BLANKET HAS MARKS AND SPOTS. It's such a treasure. I absolutely love this blanket! It's something that should be in a history museum.
