Crassula perforata – commonly called String of Buttons – is a succulent from South Africa known for its stacked, triangular leaves arranged in a spiral around the stem.
Appearance:
• Leaves are thick, triangular, and gray-green with reddish or pinkish edges when exposed to bright light.
• The stacked arrangement gives it a beaded or “buttoned” look along the stem.
• Can grow upright at first but often leans or trails as stems lengthen.
Care Requirements:
• Light: Prefers bright light or full sun for best color. Insufficient light can cause stretching and dull leaf color.
• Water: Water deeply only when soil is completely dry. Overwatering can cause root rot.
• Soil: Use a fast-draining succulent or cactus mix.
